The Arsenal Transfer Weekly

Due to the recent form of the team,  Arsenal proved a lot of people wrong with not selling or buying players besides a Denis Suarez loan move. This move could be costly if Suarez decides to only make the stay temporary. Denis gives the squad a lot of depth as well as bringing a unique skillset to the squad that we will lose when Aaron Ramsey departs amidst the next window, Denis not wanting to sign  permanent deal would not be surprising considering Unai has not given him much playing time.

In the squads 5-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth, head coach Unai Emery started with only 3 at the back, but if under pressure, could turn into 5 with Sead Kolasinac and Carl Jenkinson dropping. This game was Carl Jenkinson‘s first start in quite a while in which he did play very well. He definitely provides enough depth so when players come back from injury, he can play still play at top class.

Bye Bye Ozil?

Seeing Ozil in the starting 11 was a very reassuring sight. After not being in the lineup in many crucial games this season, it is very unlikely we will be seeing him at the club much longer. With rumors of him being sold to Inter Milan this past transfer window, it would not be a huge surprise if we saw him leave in the summer. There have also been rumors of an  85 million euro deal being offered to acquire Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio. Talks of this happening could come to a halt if the team pursues Bayern Leverkusens‘ 19-year-old phenom Kai Havertz. At just 19 years old, Havertz has racked up 9 goals and 3 assists in only 23 appearances, averaging a rating of 7.14. With Ozil getting older, it would be nice to see some young faces at the club. Unai has made it clear that they are not looking for a new center back, so, we can only hope that the backs we have now can play well enough until Unai decides it’s time to buy a defender. Arsenal has had connections with some center backs but most of the sources are not very credible such as the Brazilian teen Martinelli who plays for Ituano in Brazil. the offer is suggested to be around 4 million euros, but he has already had trials at teams such as Manchester United and Barcelona. Knowing this makes the move to seem highly unlikely.
