Easton’s Picks of the Day: Friday March 8th, 2019

Hello everyone and welcome to my first article highlighting my picks that I like on a slate of games. I wanted to start this yesterday, but I wanted to get my picks out earlier so people would have a chance to ride alongside with me. Funny enough, my picks that I had planned went 4-2 and would’ve gone 5-1 if the Trailblazers could’ve won in OT and Westbrook not have had his best 3 point shooting night of the year. But without further ado, let’s look at some of my favorite plays of the day. It’s Friday, why not start the weekend off with a bang.

  1. Detroit Pistons @ Chicago Bulls 8 PM ET O/U 218

The Bulls season hasn’t been great this year with a 19-47 record, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t pick this game. Meanwhile, Detroit is 32-31 and fighting to hold onto the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference. In Detroit’s last 12 games, they have a 10-2 O/U record. On the flip side, Chicago is 9-4-1 in its last 14 against the O/U. Detroit’s offense has also come alive scoring 110 points in 9 of their last 10 games. This year, Chicago has given up 112.9 point-per-game at Home.

The Pick: Over 218

2. Utah Jazz @ Memphis Grizzlies 8 PM ET O/U 212

While this might not be a game you want to watch, that doesn’t mean we can’t bet on this game. In this exact scenario where Utah goes to Memphis, the UNDER has hit 5 times in a row. Currently Memphis is #1 defensive team in the NBA with the Jazz being 5th, respectively. The UNDER has hit in 4 of the last 5 games Memphis has played. Memphis also has the lowest amount of possessions in the NBA.

The Pick: Under 212

3. Oklahoma City Thunder @ Los Angeles Clippers 10:30 ET Clippers -2.0

I’ll be the first to admit that this line looks a little off. However, I really do like the Clippers in this game. OKC are coming off a back-to-back where they are 4-5 ATS this year. Paul George and Russ both played over 40 minutes last night and could see them playing fewer minutes than normal for this game. Meanwhile the Clippers have gone 5-0 in their last 5 games ATS. As a home favorite this year the Clippers have been 15-7 ATS. I see this being a back-and-forth game tonight that we’ll all have to sweat out.

The Pick: Clippers -2.0

4. New Jersey Devils @ Washington Capitals 7 PM ET O/U 6

Let’s look at a little NHL action on Friday evening. Tonights slate is a smaller one with only 4 games, but this is the game I want to target. The OVER has hit the last 5 times the Caps have been at home. Similarly, when the Devils are on the road the OVER has hit 4 of the last 5 times. When these two teams have met in the past the OVER has been 5-1 in their last 6. The Capitals have also scored 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 7 games.

The Pick: Over 6

5. Central Michigan @ Western Michigan 7 PM EST CMU -4.5

An in-state rivalry and some late season MACtion? Do I even have to say more? Central Michigan has been 7-0-1 in their last 8 games ATS on the road. Meanwhile, Western Michigan has been on their own little run going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games this year. However, over the last 3 seasons, CMU has been 5-0 ATS facing off against WMU. Against conference opponents, CMU has been 12-4 ATS this season. The biggest reason I’m going against WMU is that when they’ve faced a good offensive team averaging over 77 points, they’ve been 2-11 ATS in the last 2 seasons. This year Central Michigan has averaged 82.6 points-per-game.

The Pick: Central Michigan -4.5

There are my picks for this Friday, I’ll be back tomorrow to recap how we did today and look at a full slate of CBB games that we have to pick from. With that, I say cheers to you all and good luck on your picks.
