This Saturday (March 16th, 2019), Nashville SC will go against Saint Louis FC in Nashville. Following a 2-0 victory over Loudoun United, the squad is looking to get off to a hot start to the season by winning their first two games.
Future MLS Stars Shining Bright
In Nashville’s previous match, both Cameron Lancaster and Daniel Rios netted one goal each within a 3-minute span of each other (58′ and 61′). This has many die-hard Nashville SC fans VERY excited for the future MLS team given that these two will be apart of it. Overall, the team completely dominated Loudoun United on both sides of the field. Nashville racked up 17 shots with 4 of them being on target. Saint Louis only shot 8 times but had 3 on target. The possession battle was very one-sided as Nashville contained possession for 61% of the match.
What to Watch
The main focus for Nashville going into the match has to be shot quality. Only 24% of the shots were put on target in the previous match which could deem problematic against Saint Louis. In Saint Louis’s last match, they defeated Indy Eleven 2-1 in a come from behind victory although they were dominated in almost every fashion of the game. Indy Eleven won the possession battle (65%), but only shot 10 times (3 on target) as Saint Louis shot 11 (4 on target). This could mean trouble for Nashville…Even if they win both the possession and shot taking battle, there is still a very high chance they could come out scoreless.
Prediction
Due to the aggressive play styles, I expect a high scoring affair. It will be one of those matches where it just depends on how the ball is rolling. We predict Nashville SC will pull out a 3-2 victory, scoring ALL 3 goals in the second half!
