The signing of Justin Houston is a giant move for the Indianapolis Colts. While bolstering their defensive line, he also brings a solid veteran presence to one of the youngest teams in the league.
Last season, Houston totaled 9 sacks, 1 interception, and 5 forced fumbles on the year with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Houston will play defensive end in the Colts’ 4-3 scheme. He will primarily pass rush and will no longer have to worry about coverage roles. Considering how Houston put up 9 sacks while having to cover, the future is bright for him with the Colts because he will be able to focus on what he is good at.
Look for Houston to be one of the players that pushes Indy’s defense into the top 10 in the league. With the potential drafting of another d-lineman in the first round of the NFL Draft, the Colts’ line is about to be nasty.
