The Minnesota Timberwolves have been quite a busy team as of late. They haven’t made any trades or roster moves that catch the attention of the casual fan; however, they have made important moves in the front office. Without the staff, the team would fall into unorganized chaos. They already recently hired Gersson Rosas as their President of Basketball Operations and named Ryan Saunders as their head coach. Now, they have added Sachin Gupta and Gianluca Pascucci to their staff.
Sachin Gupta has decided to leave the Pistons and head to Minnesota. Gupta served as the Assistant GM in Detroit, and will be promoted to Vice President of Basketball Operations. The two will be reunited; both Rosas and Gupta previously worked together for the Houston Rockets
Gianluca Pascucci, the former Brooklyn Nets Director of Global Scouting, will be teaming up with the Timberwolves as their new Assistant GM. Before his stint with the Nets, Pascucci served as Houston’s Vice President of Player Personnel. Pascucci, like Gupta, worked with Rossas.
Even though Rossas was recently hired, one can see that he is trying to surround himself with people that he already built relationships with. This can be a good or bad thing. Bringing in familiar people is a positive, as you can almost guarantee that there will be no clashes in personality or ambition. On the flip side, it can be a negative, as it could potentially blind you from bringing in the better candidate. Will this pan out for the Timberwolves? Only time will tell.
