Strengths

  • Good length and strength for his position
  • Above average defender — good physicality and versatility, can guard multiple positions
  • Strong and has a quick first step, can handle the ball well and is good attacking/driving
  • Very athletic, powerful finisher — very explosive
  • Good rebounder for a guard (1.3 offensive rebounds per game)
  • Fearless and aggressive, gets to the free throw line a lot

Weaknesses

  • Perimeter shooting needs a lot of improvement; it has begun to improve, but he still has a lot of work to do
  • Streaky shooter, lacks consistency
  • Often relies too much on strictly physicality and strength, which won’t be as much of an advantage in the NBA where players are bigger
  • Is out of control when attacking sometimes, needs to improve as a playmaker and passer
  • Not a very efficient player — his FG%, 3P%, and assist-turnover ratio are all below average

Grade for Bucks: D+

Luguentz Dort would help the Bucks on defense, but offensively doesn’t do what Milwaukee is looking for. He isn’t a good shooter and doesn’t really create for others, and even as an attacker he hasn’t shown the ability to drive and kick very well. If he’s ever on the court with Bledsoe, that could really clog things up in the paint for Giannis. Without the floor spacing or drive-and-dish ability that the Bucks need out of their guards, he would not be a very good pick for the Bucks at 30 unless they are primarily looking for defense.
