Strengths

  • Great perimeter shooter, can shoot very well from NBA range
  • Good at getting transition threes and moving without the ball to get looks, good cutter
  • Quick release on his shot and overall is just a terrific shooter who can get his shot off whenever and hit from anywhere
  • Shows good hustle — very good rebounder on both ends and very aggressive
  • Has good length for the NBA that allows him to defend multiple positions
  • Doesn’t make many mistakes (just 2 turnovers per game last year despite his high usage rate) and is incredibly efficient (30.4 PER in 2018-19)
  • In conference play last year (18 games), he shot 58% from the field, 48% from three, and had a 75% true shooting percentage, all of which are ridiculously good

Weaknesses

  • Not very strong, and that limits his ceiling in the NBA
  • Won’t be able to do as much one-on-one perimeter scoring in the NBA and will have to start coming off of screens
  • Not overly athletic and won’t be able to blow past or back down players
  • Will likely struggle to match up with and defend stronger players in the NBA
  • Not a great shot blocker (just 0.6 per game)

Grade for Bucks: B-

Windler seems destined to have a long and solid NBA career as a role player. He does a lot of things well and doesn’t make many mistakes, and his length gives him an advantage on both ends of the floor. He will need to develop less of a one-on-one perimeter game and improve his catch-and-shoot ability, but he is already a good enough shooter that it isn’t a big concern. Windler is a player that would be good right away for any NBA team because of his skillset and length, and if he’s still available at 30, the Bucks should definitely consider taking him.
