Jimmy Butler has declined his player option making him a free agent. Butler requested a trade last season and his preferred destination was Miami, it seems like he still has interest.
Butler’s interest in Miami makes sense as Butler wants a team of veterans that practice with intensity and give everything they have on defense. Erik Spoelstra is known for making his team play physical intense defense at all times. As far as practice goes Miami’s practices are known as “The Jungle” so Butler should feel at home in Miami. The only issue with this possible marriage is that Miami is way over the cap and they’d have to dump multiple of their large contracts to have enough space to sign Butler as a free agent. The only realistic way for Miami to acquire Butler is through a sign and trade where Miami could send veterans Goran Dragić, Hassan Whiteside, Kelly Olynyk, or James Johnson in exchange for Butler.
