Strengths

  • Very athletic and agile for his size/position — great leaping ability
  • Good ball handler who can take defenders off the bounce with a quick first step
  • Excels in the paint — can finish with a variety of post moves, shows excellent footwork, and has very good touch around the rim
  • Solid pull-up game from 10-12 feet
  • Has good shooting form and touch, and he is a good free throw shooter for a big man
  • Has the potential to develop a three-point shot
  • Possesses strength and toughness to go along with his mobility — excellent rebounder and a solid rim protector
  • Quickness and mobility on defense makes him able to defend guards on pick and rolls

Weaknesses

  • Range is limited to 12-15 feet, doesn’t have a three-point shot yet
  • Might be a tad undersized for a center height-wise
  • Not the greatest shot blocker or rim protector
  • Turns it over a bit too much (2.8 per game) as he sometimes struggles to recognize double teams and drives into the teeth of the defense

Grade for Bucks: C+

Bruno Fernando is a very athletic big man who has the potential to become a three-point shooter with his solid form and touch. If he is willing to work hard to develop that part of his game, he would be a decent pick for Milwaukee. If his game isn’t going to change, I would prefer a few other guys over him, as it is essential that the Bucks’ big men can space the floor. Overall, I would think the Bucks go with someone else, as Fernando may be too much of a prospect and not be able to give the Bucks what they want right away.
