  • Mobile forward who moves smoothly and can run the floor
  • Versatile offensive player who can do basically everything on that end
  • Has the skillset to be an inside and outside threat on offense who can pick and roll or pick and pop
  • Has a solid outside shot and can also put the ball on the floor, great ball handler
  • Good finisher, often powers through contact with dunks
  • Has some good post moves and nice footwork
  • Great basketball IQ that helps him on both ends

  • His effort and mentality are questionable and inconsistent
  • Has stretches where he disappears from games
  • Doesn’t have great size or length and struggles against physicality
  • Inconsistent shooter as he sometimes settles for bad shots against physical defenders
  • Defense is lacking — not strong enough to guard power forwards and not quick enough to stay with wings
  • Perimeter and pick and roll defense is a struggle as he doesn’t have great lateral quickness
  • Gets lazy at times and loses concentration
  • Still young and developing a feel for the game

Grade for Bucks: D

Samanic is about as much of a high-risk, high-reward pick as you can get this late in the draft. He has all of the skills and tools necessary to become a very good NBA player, but his mentality and motor are a serious concern. With the Bucks contemplating trading the 30th pick, I don’t think they would keep it and end up taking someone so risky. Samanic has potential, but expect the Bucks to either take someone else or trade the pick.
