Toronto Blue Jays star pitcher, Marcus Stroman, is headed to the New York Mets.
Stroman, 28, is heading to New York after having his name in trade rumors all year. After a down year in 2018, Stroman has rebuilt his value this season with a 2.96 ERA and the second highest ground-ball rate in the MLB.
The Mets add another quality arm to an already loaded rotation, with Stroman being added to the likes of Jacob DeGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Zach Wheeler, and Steven Matz. New York is likely to move one of these arms, expected to be Syndergaard or Wheeler, but nevertheless have an excess of talent at the starting pitcher position.
No one knows if the Mets are contenders or not, or whether they’re attempting to become one or not, but this move is nonetheless an upgrade for them.
