NBA ROUNDUP 10/29/19

Dallas Mavericks beat Denver Nuggets 109-106

This Dallas team has sneaky depth. Give Denver some credit, they held Dallas’ two star players in check, but couldn’t overcome the rest of the Mavs. The Mavericks finished the game with a whopping NINE players in double-digits. Maxi Kleber led the way for the lot of them, finishing with 14pts/7rbs. Tim Hardaway Jr added 14 off the bench and Kristaps Porzingis finished with a 10pt/14rb double-double.

For the Nuggets, Paul Millsap led the way with 23pts/8rbs. Nikola Jokic chipped in a 10pt/10asts/10rb double-double and Will Barton added a 19pt/11rb double-double.

Miami Heat beat Atlanta Hawks 112-97

Trae Young left the game after only 11 minutes with an ankle sprain. X-rays came back negative and the Hawks believe the injury isn’t serious, but will be cautious with their star player. Jimmy Butler made his anticipated debut for the Heat, finishing with 21pts/5rbs. Tyler Herro was moved to the bench to make room for Butler and chopped to the tune of 29pts/7rbs. Goran Dragic added 21pts/3asts/3rbs off the bench and Bam Adebayo added a 17pt/10rb double-double. This Heat team has top three seed in the East written all over it, remember that.

For the Hawks, John Collins had it going all night, finishing with 30pts/4asts/7rbs. The only other player to finish with double-digits in the scoring column was Jabari Parker, with 12pts off the bench. It’s interesting when star point-guards go down how the entire team is affected. This Hawks team looked completely different following Trae Young’s departure, he’s really the engine to that team.

Los Angeles Lakers smash Memphis Grizzlies 120-91

Anthony Davis looked amazing, and set the Lakers franchise record for made free throws in a single game (26). The star forward led the Lakers with a ridiculous 40pts/20rbs/2blks. LeBron James added 23pts/8asts and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope came off the bench to the tune of 13pts/3asts/6rbs.

For the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas led the action, finishing with a 14pt/11rb double-double. Ja Morant chipped in 16pts/3rbs.
