Saints Talk: Recap Of Saints Preseason Opener Vs Vikings

After week one of the preseason, the Saints fall short to the Vikings; the final score was 34 to 25. However, we did see several standouts during the game.

USA Today

One player who seemly sealed up his first string spot was rookie Center Erik McCoy. The pass protection overall was absolutely great with McCoy standing out. Although, there was sack trouble when the second and third stringers came into the game. This was particularly on Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater during the first half.

Another player who was trying to earn a second string spot behind Tight End Jared Cook is Dan Arnold. With less than a minute in the first half, Bridgewater connects with Arnold for 6. That was easily his best play all game.

On the contrary, early in the 3rd quarter, he couldn’t hold onto a short pass from Taysom Hill, leading to a pick 6 for the Vikings. It looked as if he “tossed” it to the rookie Vikings Cornerback Nate Meadors.

Just to reassure everybody, the whole special teams unit hasn’t lost a single step. Wil Lutz nailed all four of his field goals, even a 52 yarder as his longest for the night. Thomas Morstead had two punts totaling 91 yards with 45.5 as an average.

There were also two breakout returners, Cyril Grayson Jr. and Deonte Harris. Grayson Jr. had two returns for 61 yards with an average of 30.5 yards a return. Harris, however, had an overall better game, returning wise. He has three returns for 90 yards, 30 yards a return.

2019 NFL Preseason Schedule: Tennessee Titans

As most are already well aware, the NFL on Tuesday released the 2019 NFL Preseason schedule ahead of the upcoming draft activities.

Here’s a look at the preseason slate for the Tennessee Titans:

Week 1: Titans @ Eagles (Aug. 8-12; TBD)
Week 2:
Patriots vs. Titans (Aug. 15-19; TBD)
Week 3:
Steelers vs. Titans (Aug. 25 @ 8PM EST)
Week 4:
Titans @ Bears (Aug. 29-30)

The Titans will host the Steelers for their Week 3 match-up and will be nationally televised on NBC @ 8:00PM EST.

I would expect this to be the Titans “dress rehearsal” game, and the national spotlight will be shining bright on Marcus Mariota and the offense for the first time in a critical “do or die” year for the Titans QB.
